A Visit to Appomattox Court House

April 2009.

Before our trip out, Justin tried to snack on some dish soap under the sink.

We drove to Appomattox and had a picnic lunch from KFC.

It was a nice day but a little blustery. Here's Christy bundled at lunch.

Josh, Ryan and Easton went for a walk down the creek.

Then we visited Appomattox Court House, on the 144th anniversary weekend of the Surrender that ended the US Civil War.

Here's Christy walking into the old tavern.

Easton, Josh and Lauren interact with the actors there for the anniversary.

When Josh said that we live in Lynchburg,
they played and sang "Lynchburg town" for him.

There were many artifacts from the Civil War and the Surrender.

This is the road from Richmond to Lynchburg that runs through Appomattox.

Josh, Christy and Lauren run back to the village with Ryan and Easton.

Beautiful daughters by a beautiful tree on a beautiful day.

The six of us in front of the McLean House,
where the surrender was made official.

Josh, Christy and Lauren in front of one of the desks used for the signing.

Josh and Grandpa Dave in front of the Old Jail lot.
